Oxidation and free radicals

We all know that oxygen is essential for our bodies to exist. What is less known is that oxygen has some adverse side effects. It forms free radicals, which result in oxidation. This is clearly visible in the brown color that an apple gets when it is cut in half and left for a while. The rusting of metal is another example of oxidation.

An unpleasant idea is that this process also continuously takes place in the body! In the long run, the effects of free radicals and oxidative damage are felt by, and visible for everyone. Free radicals are thus formed by natural physiological processes in the body. Other causes of free radicals are poor nutrition, excessive stress, smoking, alcohol, drugs, too much sunlight and air pollution.

Water enriched with hydrogen

Water can be enriched with hydrogen in several ways. One example is by means of an effervescent tablet. When it is dissolved in drinking water, a reaction occurs between the magnesium and the oxygen atoms in the water. This creates magnesium oxide and free hydrogen atoms, which are both healthy components. Another way is a device that adds hydrogen atoms to the water by means of electrolysis.

About the technology: SPE/PEM membrane

Both the H04 and the H05B Hydrogen Water makers have SPE/ PEM technology. The SPE/ PEM membrane is the latest development in the field of Hydrogen Water makers. This technology guarantees a high hydrogen content and the complete absence of harmful by-products in the water you drink. Both models are equipped with a platinum-coated titanium electrolysis plate, which guarantees a high production of hydrogen water for a long time.

Explanation of the schedule. The SPE/ PEM membrane consists of an anode and a cathode:

At the anode, H+ (hydrogen) ions are separated from oxygen atoms by electrolysis.
Only the desired H+ (hydrogen) ions move through the PEM membrane into the water you’re drinking. At the cathode, the H+ ions join with the electrons from the power supply. H-atoms are formed, which couple and form H2-gas. Harmful oxygen gas (and possibly chlorine gas) produced at the anode (by oxidation of hydroxide) stays behind and is discarded.
